Prior Learning Assessment

Get Your Existing Skills & Experience Recognized

YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. YOU DESERVE A QUALIFICATION

What is PLA?

PLA, PLAR or RPL is a process that uses a variety of tools to help learners identify, articulate and demonstrate past learning. Used by regulatory bodies, adult learning centre, career development practitioners, human resource professionals, employers, training institutions, colleges and universities around the world to evaluate skills and knowledge acquired outside the classroom. Prior learning Assessment (PLA) is a process by which an individual is rewarded for the existing knowledge and experience. PLA program of Greatwood University can save your time and cost. Competition for working professionals is increasing day by day. When people receive college credit for already existing expertise and experience, they can earn their degree faster by saving time and cost. This is for the purpose of recognizing competence against a given set of standards, competencies, or learning outcomes. Prior learning can be acquired through study, work and life experiences, that are not recognized by formal transfer of credit mechanisms. The student must pay a nominal assessment fee and learning will be evaluated by a subject expert through a challenge process or portfolio assessment.

PLA Degrees Are Globally Recognized

PLA is known by many names in different countries. Known as APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning), CCC (Crediting Current Competence), or APEL (Accrediting Prior Experiential Learning) in the UK, RPL in Australia and New Zealand, and PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) in Canada. France has a more sophisticated system in which assessment is known as 'Bilan de competences', 'Bilan des competences approfondi', or 'Validation de Acquis des Experiences (VAE)'. Regardless of the title, all are the same and all are PLA.
